 There you will discover
Howell's Dried Florals & Greenhouse, where rainbows of flowers cover 8
gently rolling acres. You will also find an array of intricate tapestries of
dried florals, preserved foliage, and home accessories that await to delight
you.Three generations of the Howell family have helped cultivate these fragrant fields on the family farm since 1985. You’re invited to take a leisurely stroll through the fields draped with breathtaking ribbons of color, and visit our greenhouses, filled with decorative plants and flowers. |
 Then take a turn through the huge 95 foot by 40 foot 1910
barn. Be sure to take the short walk upstairs, where long bunches of
decorative florals stretch from the rafters in the second floor drying
area.Solidago, flax, wheat, peppers, fever few, gomphrena, salvia, statice, globe thistle, artemisia, golden sunflowers, celosia, strawflowers and hollyhocks gently and naturally air dry to become part of the crafters’ art. |
 On
the first floor, step inside the Gift Shop, where
you’ll find a stunning array of unique floral wreaths, baskets, swags,
nosegays and ready-made dried flower arrangements, as well as a wide variety of flowers to create your own decorative masterpieces. |
 The Howell
farm features plenty to do for the entire family. A real working farm,
it’s a delightful experience for the children as well. There’s always
a veritable menagerie of friendly and gentle farm animals to pet and frolic
with, including cats, dogs and even goats! |
The Howell Farm is easy to
find. Just west of Interstate 35, it's only 15 miles to Des Moines and just 17
miles to Winterset. The Covered Bridges of Madison County are a popular
local attraction, and for those of you who've seen the film version of Robert
Waller's novel, Francesca's House, where most of the movie was filmed,
is less than 2 miles from the farm! |
